This paper focuses on the theoretical connotation and formation mechanism of enterprise core competitiveness. In the theoretical connotation part, the definition and characteristics of core competitiveness are clarified, its constituent elements are analyzed, and its value and function are expounded. As a unique advantage of an enterprise, core competitiveness is a combination of abilities that are difficult to imitate by competitors, which is of great significance to the survival and development of an enterprise. In terms of formation mechanism, the accumulation and integration of internal resources is the foundation, and enterprises need to integrate various resources to form unique capabilities; The adaptation and utilization of external environment is the key, and enterprises should keenly capture market changes and effectively use external resources; Innovation-driven and sustainable development is the guarantee to promote the continuous progress of enterprises. In addition, the cultivation and promotion strategies of enterprise core competitiveness are put forward, including the cultivation based on resources and capabilities, the promotion based on external environment adaptation and the promotion based on organizational change and innovation. The conclusion is that enterprises need to build and enhance their core competitiveness from various aspects to gain an advantage in the fierce market competition and realize sustainable development.
