Bell Hooks is a renowned feminist who grew up in a Black family in the American South. Influenced by gender and racial discrimination, she dedicated herself to advancing Black freedom and equality. During her studies, she was shaped by critical pedagogy, Buddhist perspectives, feminism, and multiculturalism, while being profoundly inspired by exemplary teachers in segregated Southern schools. Hooks thus developed her own educational philosophy.
