This study systematically examined the integrated influence mechanisms of social support, psychological resilience, academic stress, and major satisfaction on subjective well-being among 410 art and design majors from two universities in Quanzhou City, Fujian Province, China. Hierarchical multiple regression analysis revealed: (1) Social support (β 0.38, p 0.001) and psychological resilience (β 0.29, p 0.01) were the strongest positive predictors of subjective well-being. (2) Academic stress exerted a significant negative influence (β 0.25, p 0.01). (3) Major satisfaction indirectly influenced well-being through the mediating effect of career identity (β 0.18, p 0.05). The study revealed the reinforcing effect of “creative interpersonal relationships”, unique to the art and design field on support networks. It also found that academic stress intensified its impact on well-being when major choice misaligned with career identity. These findings provide quantitative evidence for developing student well-being intervention strategies in art institutions, though the regional limitations of the sample should be considered when generalizing the conclusions.
