Based on art therapy theory, this paper conducts an in-depth analysis of interactive video installations by teamLab, represented by Flowers and People, Cannot be Controlled but Live Together and Continuous Small Universe. It explores the practical application and theoretical transformation mechanism of art therapy theory in the context of new media technology, with a focus on examining how technical media reconstruct the psychological intervention model of traditional art therapy. The research finds that the interactive mechanisms of these works not only activate viewers’ sensory experiences but also facilitate the processes of emotional expression, self-awareness, and psychological healing. This study expands the application boundary of art therapy theory in the digital age, constructs an interdisciplinary integration model of art, psychology, and new media technology, and reveals the innovative impact of technical media on psychotherapy practice. It provides a theoretical basis and practical path for addressing mental health challenges in modern society.
