Aiming at the problems of low sorting efficiency, high error rate, high labor cost and poor stability existing in traditional manual sorting and semi-automatic sorting equipment, an intelligent sorting robot system based on machine vision is designed and studied in this paper. The system integrates multi-disciplinary technologies including mechanical engineering, machine vision, automatic control and image processing, which can realize automatic image acquisition, target feature recognition, spatial coordinate positioning and intelligent classified sorting of workpieces. In this paper, the overall scheme of the system is constructed, the four-degree-of-freedom mechanical structure of the robot is designed in detail, the hardware and software of the machine vision module are configured, and the motion control system with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) as the core is developed. A series of performance tests are carried out to verify the recognition accuracy, sorting efficiency, positioning accuracy and operation stability of the system. The test results show that the proposed intelligent sorting robot system has high recognition accuracy up to 98.5%, stable and reliable operation performance, and strong adaptability to different types of workpieces. The system can effectively meet the automatic sorting requirements of small and medium-sized logistics sites, assembly lines and parts processing workshops, and provides a practical and economical solution for the intelligent upgrading of industrial sorting links.
